Prep & Resources
The majority of delegates at MUNUC will be in what we call Traditional Committees. Traditional Committees make up the General Assembly, ECOSOC, and parts of Regional Bodies and Specialized Agencies. They vary in size, ranging from over 300 delegates to anywhere around 50 delegates. Traditional Committees will push you to work with your fellow delegates in a collaborative environment to construct a comprehensive document that addresses the problems posed by your committee topic. These trainings will take you through the various facets of Traditional Committees and give you the skills necessary to be successful.
Background Guides
Background guides and update papers are available on your committee page. We strongly recommend reading these documents before conference in order to get a sense of what your committee’s topics are all about.
Position Papers
A position paper summarizes the problem at hand from the perspective of your assigned country or delegation and proposes solutions that your country would support. Each delegation should write one paper per topic. For delegates in double-delegate committees, only one paper must be submitted and should be worked on by both delegates.
Position papers for MUNUC 37 are due Friday, January 31, 2025 by 11:59 PM CST and are required for all Traditional Committees (General Assembly, Economic & Social Council, Regional Bodies, and Specialized Agency USG Groups).
Failure to submit position papers will result in disqualification from awards contention. We also recommend submitting position papers for Non-Traditional Committees (Hybrid and Continuous Crisis USG Groups) to help with preparation, but they are not required.
Submission Information:
1. Google Doc or PDF in English
2. One paper per topic of original or appropriately-cited work
3. One page single-spaced, or two pages double-spaced
4. No formatting requirements, but must be legible
5. For double-delegates: only one co-authored paper per topic
Paper structure for country positions:
1. A paragraph on your country’s framing of the problem
2. A paragraph on what actions your country has already taken
3. One to two paragraphs on possible solutions
Paper structure for non-traditional/special positions:
1. A paragraph extending your character’s biography, based on the committee background guide
2. One to two paragraphs on your character’s stance on relevant frontroom issues
3. One to two paragraphs outlining your backroom crisis arc
Please note: Policy stances or crisis arcs written in position papers are not binding; you are free to adapt during committee within the realm of possibility.
Rules of Procedure
The Rules of Procedure are the protocols that each committee will follow, to structure debate and keep discussion productive and orderly. Download a copy of MUNUC’s Rules of Procedure for your reference.
