Letter from the Secretary-General

Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,

It is my great pleasure and honor to invite you to the thirty-seventh annual session of the Model United Nations of the University of Chicago, to be held Thursday, February 6 to Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the Hyatt Regency, located in the heart of downtown Chicago. At MUNUC 37, over 3000 high schoolers from all across the globe will gather to address some of the world’s most pressing issues and continue their journeys into developing into the world’s future leaders. 

Nationally recognized for excellence, MUNUC has remained strongly committed to our value of pedagogy—and with it, collaboration and productive discourse. We aim to help our delegates become confident public speakers, effective critical thinkers, and globally-minded leaders. It has been, and continues to be, MUNUC’s mission to help high school students from around the world become more active and informed global citizens. 

As a collective effort of over 300 college students from the University of Chicago, we pride ourselves on the detailed scope of our myriad simulations. Each of our thirty-one committees this year focuses on a unique topic, ranging from diverse historical time periods to complex modern-day issues, where it is our greatest hope that delegates will gain a more nuanced understanding of both the capabilities and the limitations of international diplomacy. Throughout the conference, each delegate will receive constructive feedback to advance their growth as delegates and as people, from our experienced slate of MUNUC executives. 

Registration for MUNUC 37 will open on May 6, 2024, with confirmation following within one week of your registration. A full timeline of our key dates can be found below. For thirty-seven years, MUNUC has been an exceptional and momentous experience for students from across the world. Whether this would be your school’s inaugural trip to MUNUC or its thirty-seventh, we are so excited to welcome you to Chicago next February, and to help the next generation of leaders learn and grow.
