Understand the Special Mechanics

Almost always, even if the special mechanics are supposed to be surprising, your Chair will include some kind of explanation about how it's going to work. Read the explanation thoroughly and make sure you understand it.

Don't be afraid to ask questions before and during conference! Whenever you feel like you don't understand something, ask! The Dais is there to support you.

Always do your research

Regardless of committee format or mechanic, solid research is a must for MUN! Understand the topic, your country/character's position, and anything that you think is important. Your research will provide you with the tools you need for any format or mechanic. Sometimes, you may find hints in the BG on what special mechanics could be.

Practice the core skills

As mentioned earlier, the skills that are emphasized at a committee with special mechanics are the same as in a traditional committee. Practice the six core skills, and you will be prepared for any type of committee.

Stay calm and believe in yourself

If a mechanic or format is new to you, then it is very likely that it is also new to other delegates. It is ok to take a step back and clear up your thoughts. You are not alone!
