Formed in 1945, the League of Arab States brings together twenty-two countries linked by language, culture, and geography. Spanning North Africa to the Arabian Peninsula, the organization works to coordinate policy and address shared regional challenges despite differences in wealth, governance, and social structures. Delegates will represent their respective member states, balancing national priorities with broader regional goals. This year, the committee will address two pressing issues: women’s participation in economic and civic life, and unequal access to technological and social resources. Across both topics, delegates must develop practical, evidence-based solutions that reflect the region’s diversity while promoting long-term stability and growth.
TOPIC A: Women’s Legal and Economic Participation in Civil Life
Across the Arab region, women continue to face barriers to full participation in economic and civic life, including unequal access to employment, financial systems, and legal rights. While progress has been made in some states, disparities remain significant, particularly in areas such as banking access, business ownership, and mobility. These challenges not only limit individual opportunity but also constrain broader economic growth. Delegates will consider policy solutions such as reforming labor laws, expanding financial inclusion, and supporting entrepreneurship, while accounting for differences between urban and rural contexts. This topic asks how the Arab League can promote greater economic participation for women through adaptable, regionally sensitive frameworks.
TOPIC B: Equitable Access to Technological and Social Resources Across the Region
Despite rapid development in parts of the Arab world, access to technology, education, and healthcare remains uneven across the region. While some states have advanced digital infrastructure and strong public services, others (particularly rural or conflict-affected areas) face significant gaps in connectivity, schooling, and medical care. These disparities reinforce long-term inequalities and limit opportunities for growth. Delegates will explore strategies for regional cooperation and state-led development, including investment frameworks, data-sharing mechanisms, and coordinated policy approaches. This topic challenges delegates to consider whether the Arab League can bridge these divides and promote more equitable access to essential resources across its member states.
