“The most exciting and by far the most important part of our Florida Project – in fact, the heart of everything we’ll be doing in Disney World – will be our Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow! We call it EPCOT.”
—Walt Disney, 1966

What is now among the ten most visited theme parks in the world, EPCOT was originally set to be a far-cry from the international and futuristic set of attractions that so many families have come to enjoy. Instead, with Walt Disney at the helm of his corporation, EPCOT was to be a fully-functioning society that would serve as the gold-standard for all cities entering the world’s next generation of technology and innovation. However, Walt’s sudden death in December 1966 has sent shockwaves across the Walt Disney Corporation and the Imagineers at WED Enterprises. Now a month later, CEO and Chairman Roy Disney has convened you, as members of these two prestigious bodies, together to decide the fate of this critical pillar of the famed “Florida Project.” As opposed to his brother, Roy is taking a hands-off approach, handing this body the levers of power for the future of EPCOT. He expects a clearly-defined resolution on whether or not to continue on with Walt’s creative path, along with specific provisions addressing the many social, political, and sustainability conflicts that have and are certain to arise in the coming months.

Pardon our pixie dust, Imagineers. We have a dream to materialize.
