This is an advanced crisis committee. Though there will be no application for the Ad-Hoc this year, delegates should have experience on or familiarity with crisis committees.

Hello, dear delegates and other readers. We are thrilled to welcome you to the MUNUC 38 Ad-Hoc Committee of the Secretary-General! While we cannot unleash a ground-shaking reveal of the committee topic, be sure to come back to unearth the prehistoric fossils and some humongo-saurus footprints that may appear. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be an anthro-paleontologist to decode our cryptic relics. However, before you find yourself stuck in amber, like a moth drawn to a flame, remember to always remain on your toes. Hark! Beware: such clues—or even this blurb—may be full of bunk, red herrings, and false leads as opposed to helpful material.

Of course, all of us have some big shoes to fill for the Ad-Hoc committee, and we highly recommend that you focus on the fundamentals of crisis to prepare, including speaking, directive writing, crisis notes, mergers, and adaptability. We cannot wait for your debate, in spite of all the non-believers and the naysayers. It will be your job to separate the science from the pseudoscience, and keep a tradition of decorous discourse alive before it goes extinct.

From the deepest lakes to the snowiest mountains, unleash your primal urges and go all out for this committee! Don’t lock in your arcs, lest you be hit with a meteorite as opening ceremonies commence. And finally, as the great John Denver once said: Almost heaven, West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River. Life is old there, older than the trees. Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze. Country roads, take me home, to New Jersey, where you belong.”

We can’t wait to see you at MUNUC 38!
