In July 2024, the world went dark—not from war, natural disaster, or revolution—but from a single cybersecurity update gone catastrophically wrong. What began as a routine patch triggered a global technological collapse. Microsoft systems, integral to everything from hospital monitors and international banking to air traffic control, failed. Communication lines shattered. Emergency response centers froze. Planes were grounded, markets panicked, and a shaken world suddenly realized the true fragility of its digital skeleton.
This committee will take place at the moment of the outage. You will step into the roles of top global decision-makers: UN technology ministers, executives from Microsoft and CrowdStrike, and officials from major global institutions like the WHO and ICAO. Together, you must lead a joint task force assembled under the UN Office of Information and Communications Technology. The challenge? Coordinate an emergency response, rebuild global systems, and determine accountability in a tangled web of public and private power.
Expect a fast-moving crisis simulation with live updates and shifting developments. You’ll write directives, coordinate operations, and face the pressing questions of the digital age: Who bears the blame when the world’s systems fail? Can nations and corporations cooperate to avert disaster—or will they fracture under pressure? Will this be a moment of global unity, or the dawn of a new digital divide? Join us for the Outage Outrage, where every decision sparks a new chain reaction—and the future of digital trust is in your hands.
