Special Political and Decolonization Committee SPECPOL

SPECPOL, the Fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, is tasked with a wide range of political issues focused around decolonization, peacekeeping efforts, and peaceful uses of outer space. For MUNUC 33, delegates on SPECPOL will be faced with tackling two important issues: Conventions of Territorial Disputes and Ethical Responsibilities of International Corporations. With regards to Territorial Disputes, delegates will look at the legal frameworks for when a country can claim control of another territory. They will also be tasked with addressing what the role of the UN and its members should be during a territorial dispute. The topic of Ethical Responsibilities of International Organizations will examine the role large corporations play in their non-native nations. The committee will look into the ethics of expansion, global labor laws, tax evasion, and more. Over MUNUC 33, SPECPOL will discuss these two topics in what will certainly be four days of great debate!
