Mr. Ariel Barnea (he/him)

Mr. Ariel Barnea (he/him)

Ariel is a fourth-year student pursuing a Joint BS/MS in Astrophysics and Computer Science. Prior to serving as the Secretary-General of MUNUC 36, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for MUNUC 35, as the Deputy Director of Delegate Training for MUNUC 34, and as an Assistant Chair for UNICEF at MUNUC 33! In the MUN sphere, Ariel serves as a Crisis Director for ChoMUN, UChicago’s collegiate Model UN conference, and competes with UChicago’s MUN travel team. Outside of MUN, Ariel conducts Computational Cosmology research at Argonne National Laboratory. On campus, he serves on the UChicago Mentoring Program Advisory Board for the College Programming and Orientation Office, works as a Student Visit Coordinator with the Office of College Admissions, and is on the Student Government Finance Committee. In his minimal free time, he enjoys biking, making homemade espresso drinks, going to improv shows with friends, and “blogging” about new restaurants around Chicago!

Chief Operating Officer

Ms. Helen Wei (she/her)

Ms. Helen Wei (she/her)

Helen Wei is a fourth-year Biology and Public Policy double major at UChicago. This is Helen’s 8th year of MUNUC! Before serving as the COO for MUNUC 36, she was the USG for ECOSOCs for MUNUC 35, the Chair of UNESCO for MUNUC 34, the Moderator for the African Union for MUNUC 33, and a delegate for all 4 years of high school! Helen competes on UChicago’s travel MUN team and is chairing ChoMUN, UChicago’s collegiate MUN conference. Outside of MUN, Helen is the President of Bridge to College, which aims to make applying to college more accessible for Chicago Public School students, and on the board of MEDLIFE, a public health focused organization. She also conducts research in a cancer biology lab on campus. In her (sadly) very limited free time, Helen can be found binging reality shows on Netflix, cooking new foods for her food instagram, or going to improv shows with her friends.

Chief Strategy Officer

Ms. Christine Jonglertham (she/her)

Ms. Christine Jonglertham (she/her)

Christine is a fourth-year majoring in Political Science with a minor in Statistics. Previously, she served as the Chief Administrative Officer for MUNUC 35, and as Deputy Director of Administration for MUNUC 34. She has been active throughout Model UN, participating as a chair for both ChoMUN XXVI and ChoMUN XXV and as a delegate on the college circuit. Additionally, she has been involved with research in American politics through the Chicago Project on Security and Threats and the Paul Douglas Institute. Outside of academics, you can find Christine baking or down a Spotify dive.

Mr. Pascual Goldin Flores (he/him)

Mr. Pascual Goldin Flores (he/him)

Pascual is a fourth year student, majoring in Economics and Philosophy. He was born in Santiago, Chile, and he lived there all his life until he attended college at UChicago. He was Under-Secretary-General of Hybrids in MUNUC 35, and he has chaired several committees such as the Federal Republic of Central America and the first Spanish committee in the college circuit on Chile’s Primera Junta de Gobierno. Besides MUN, Pascual currently works at the Admissions Office as a Student Operations Assistant and was actively involved in the Business Organization for Latino Development (BOLD). You might find Pascual cooking, reading a good book, or taking a walk around the block or the quad.

Chief of Staff

Ms. Angelysse Madsen (she/her)

Ms. Angelysse Madsen (she/her)

Angelysse Madsen is a fourth year student majoring in Psychology and Comparative Human Development, and minoring in Neuroscience. Prior to serving as Chief of Staff for MUNUC 36, she has been heavily involved in Model UN at UChicago, from running MUNUC committees on the FDA and Iceland, chairing for the College’s collegiate conference, and competing on the college Model UN circuit. Outside of MUN, Angelysse helps plan large events for the UChicago community, works at multiple social science labs, and takes care of many, many plants (maybe she should’ve been a botanist). Despite her love for social science and understanding people, her preferred downtime activities consist of doing puzzles, buying new plants, and exploring Chicago coffee shops.

Chief Administrative Officer

Ms. Cissy Choy (she/her)

Ms. Cissy Choy (she/her)

Cissy Choy is a third year student majoring in Creative Writing and Data Science. Before becoming the CAO for MUNUC 36, Cissy was the Deputy Director of Branding for MUNUC 35 and an Assistant Chair for the Nordic Council in MUNUC 34. Cissy is also active in UChicago collegiate MUN conference ChoMUN, where she served as a Crisis Director at the most recent ChoMUN XXVI. Outside of MUN, Cissy is a member of the International Policy Program with UChicago’s Institute of Politics, a short story writer at the Writing Workshop, and a research assistant at the Chicago Center on Democracy. In her free time, she is jotting down her sixtieth unfinished short story idea, (poorly) playing the piano, and hunting down cute cafes in the city.

Mr. Tom Klehr (he/him)

Mr. Tom Klehr (he/him)

Tom Klehr is a Franco-Italian Political Science major and a member of the Class of 2025. Before serving as MUNUC 36’s Chief Financial Officer, Tom was the chair for EPCOT at MUNUC 35. Tom has been active throughout Model UN for the past six years. Outside of MUN, Tom is involved in International Politics, having volunteered at the University’s Institute of Politics and working for French institutions in the United States like the Embassy and the French Consulate in Chicago. When not working, Tom enjoys spending time with his friends, traveling, and playing sports.

Ms. Emily Dow (she/her)

Ms. Emily Dow (she/her)

Emily is a fourth-year student majoring in Math, Economics, and Psychology. Before taking on the role of CRO for MUNUC 36, she has been an Assistant Chair on DISEC and the Legal Committee for MUNUC, as well as on UNSC and the Ad-Hoc for ChoMUN. Outside of MUN, Emily plays cello in the UChicago Symphony Orchestra and is involved with on-campus research at a psychology lab. In her free time, you can find Emily drinking (way too much) coffee, making charcuterie boards, listening to music, and going on walks to see cute dogs.

Chief Marketing Officer

Ms. Kiana Carbajal (she/her)

Ms. Kiana Carbajal (she/her)

Kiana is a third-year student majoring in Public Policy and is originally from Los Angeles, CA. MUNUC 36 will be Kiana’s first conference, but she is currently involved in several other organizations on campus, such as being a tour guide at the Admissions Office, creating promotional materials and choreographing as the Director of Media and Outreach for UChicago Maya, and developing marketing and outreach strategy for the UChicago TAPS Dance Program. A true Californian, she enjoys the warm weather when it decides to make an appearance by going to sports events, biking to the point, and eating lunch on the quad.

Mr. Lucas Freitag (he/him)

Mr. Lucas Freitag (he/him)

Lucas is a third-year student in the College majoring in Public Policy. A proud Illinoisan and suburban expat, Lucas is originally from the western suburbs of Chicago. Prior to joining ExCom as a USG, he was a Chair for DISEC at MUNUC 35 and an Assistant Chair for the Ad-Hoc at MUNUC 34. Outside of MUNUC, Lucas competes on UChicago’s MUN team and serves as a Chair for ChoMUN. On campus, he is involved with UChicago’s Undergraduate Law Magazine as an executive editor and also works as an RA. In his free time, you can find Lucas making coffee, exploring (and getting lost) around Chicago, and playing guitar.

Ms. Kallie Hoffman (she/her)

Ms. Kallie Hoffman (she/her)

Kallie is a fourth-year student in the College pursuing a joint BA/MA in the Social Sciences, with a specialization in history. Previously, she has served as the chair for the CSW at MUNUC 34 and the UNHCR at MUNUC 35. She was also the chair of the 1994 Major League Baseball Committee at ChoMUN. Outside of Model UN, Kallie is the head editor for Bite, the UChicago culinary magazine and blog, and the treasurer for the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity. In her free time, Kallie can be found eating her way through Chicago, soaking up all the sun she can get, binge-watching Netflix shows, and spending time with friends and family.

Mr. Alan Pham (he/him)

Mr. Alan Pham (he/him)

Alan is a third year with a double major in Computer Science and Economics. Previously, he has served as the chair for the IAEA at MUNUC 35 and the moderator for the IAEA at MUNUC 34. Outside of MUNUC, Alan is a member of the college’s Golf Club and can often be found in large fields of grass trying to get a white ball into a small hole in the ground or lifting weighted circles at the gym.

Under-Secretary-General for Specialized Agencies

Mr. Hari Balachandran (he/him)

Mr. Hari Balachandran (he/him)

Hari is a third-year in the College majoring in both Mathematics and Economics. Before his time as the USG for Specialized Agencies, he was an EAC for the Cabinet of Manmohad Singh in MUNUC 35. Aside from MUNUC, he is involved in ChoMUN (UChicago’s collegiate MUN Conference) as a crisis director and competes on the collegiate team. Aside from Model UN, Hari can be seen on campus grinding out his problem sets, rock climbing, and drinking the coffee Lucas makes.

Kait Albarran is a third-year in the College majoring in Biological Chemistry on the pre-medical track. Before serving as the USG for Hybrid Committees, she served as a Chair for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in MUNUC 35. Outside of MUNUC, she is involved in ChoMUN, UChicago’s collegiate Model UN conference, where she has served as a Crisis Director and Assistant Chair. When she’s not doing homework or something affiliated with the MUNiverse, she spends her time hanging out with Vincent House (the best house), talking about the great state of Texas, causing orderly chaos, and wishing it was warmer outside.

Under-Secretary-General for Continuous Crisis Committees

Ms. Chritina Gao (she/her)

Ms. Chritina Gao (she/her)

Chritina is a third-year majoring in Economics and Public Policy. Originally from New York City, she tends to assume that you can just walk anywhere—no matter where you are, and is often proven wrong. In MUNUC 35, she chaired The Democratization of Chile, and in MUNUC 34, AC’ed for the Cabinet of Jose Batlle y Ordonez. Outside of MUNUC, she is a crisis director for ChoMUN, mentors incoming FLI first-years, and works for the BSD. In the time that she isn’t listening to the same three artists over and over (Harry, Gracie, beabadoobee), you can find her holed up in the basement of Crear, walking as far north as the Lakefront Trail will take her, or baking an obnoxious amount of desserts.
